Tad Wintermeyer
Hi! I'm Tad.
Early in my own therapeutic journey, I discovered how profoundly our bodies hold our stories. This insight transformed my understanding of trauma, attachment, and healing—and ultimately led me to this work.
We humans are remarkably good at professionalizing our pain. My story drew me to aviation and law—worlds that rewarded structure and control. Those adaptations served me well, but they also revealed how our protective strategies can create barriers to connection.
I share this because hope is contagious.
Through my recovery journey, I learned to hold the truth that healing happens in safe, attuned relationships and securely attached community.
Today, I walk alongside dual-trauma couples, families, and individuals as they process their stories and imagine new possibilities.
My approach is person-centered and postmodern, rooted in attachment theory, polyvagal theory, somatic experiencing, and narrative therapy—within the framework of Emotionally Focused Couples Therapy. I have completed the EFCT Externship and am a Level 2 certified Narrative Focused Trauma Care practitioner with the Allender Center.
I participate in a bi-weekly Curt Thompson, MD, Confessional Community™ and co-lead narrative groups.
I'm blessed as a father of four. I fly the Boeing 747 freighter, practice law, and enjoy fly fishing, endurance athletics, and time outdoors.
If this resonates, reach out—I'd be honored to explore your story with you.
